Welcome to the worlds of H. P. Lovecraft interpreted by the artist Sara Bardi in this 160-page, full-color book.
The creation process of this deck has been lengthy, but the result is astonishing. Initially, Sara wanted to create a set of Major Arcana based on one of her favorite authors, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, encompassing his complete works, both the Dream Cycle and the popular Cthulhu Mythos, which include other authors within its scope.
The reception was so thrilling that over time, we were encouraged to expand the deck by including the Minor Arcana. Each suit, moreover, would be inspired by a Lovecraftian tale, constituting a unique way to follow his stories through the cards.
The Tentacles (Wands) are dedicated to the story The Call of Cthulhu written by HP Lovecraft in 1926. In this suit the wands are transformed into tentacles, as a tribute to the author’s work. Follow the relation of the cards with the story in the pages of the book.
The Cups center on a story written between Lovecraft and Harry Houdini in 1924 for Weird Tales, and it tells a fictionalized account in the first-person perspective of an allegedly true experience of escape artist Harry Houdini. Follow the relation of the cards with the story in the pages of the book.
The Swords are dedicated to the Dunwich Horror, written by Lovecraft in 1928. It is considered one of the core stories of the Cthulhu Mythos.
Pentacles chronicles one of Lovecraft’s most mature and spectacular works, At the Mountains of Madness. Written in 1931, it is one of the most influential works in modern science fiction. It’s one of our favorite stories and one of the most influential in contemporary popular culture science fiction.
